Excel in the Grace of Giving
Excel is designed especially for congregations that ……
- • Had little to no biblical stewardship emphasis in a previous capital campaign and are now experiencing financial difficulties.
- • Are experiencing operating debt and seek to intensify sound stewardship education and practice.
- • Are experiencing rapid growth of membership and ministry programs and require significantly increased offerings to maintain that growth.
- • Recognize the opportunity in challenging economic times to minister to the needs of God’s people and nurture spiritual growth
Excel is based on biblical realities
- • Christian giving is a thankful response to God’s grace. Therefore God’s Word and the Holy Spirit are essential.
- • God’s grace is the action that empowers giving; our giving is the response to God’s grace. Therefore biblical appreciation of giving as an act of grace is critical.
- • Joyful and generous giving is an essential quality of Christian leaders.
- • God wants all Christians to excel in the grace of giving.
The practical realities of today’s churches
- • Today few Christians understand giving as a response to God’s grace. Increasingly congregation members view giving as paying bills for services received.
- • Today over 90% of congregation offerings are given by 1/3 of the congregation’s members. Impacting that 1/3 with biblical teaching and loving leadership will change the giving culture of a congregation.
- • Limited financial and human resources of congregations and the span of spiritual maturity to immaturity of members require a development of stewardship education strategies. There ought to be a balance of stewardship ministry between all members and those members spiritually and financially capable of supporting the Lord’s work.
Through the Excel in the Grace of Giving, Cornerstone will
